Ingredients
2 servings
- 200 g firm tofu
- 2 tbsp starch (e.g. cornstarch)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 lime
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp maple syrup or honey (vegan: maple syrup)
- Water as needed
- Salt
- Pepper
Method
- Remove tofu from packaging, drain well and gently press with kitchen paper to remove excess liquid.
- Cut tofu into even cubes. Toss in a bowl with starch, some salt and pepper until all cubes are lightly coated.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu over medium-high heat until crispy all around. Turn occasionally until all sides are golden brown.
- For the sauce, mix peanut butter, lime juice, soy sauce and maple syrup in a small bowl. Gradually add water until a creamy, slightly runny consistency forms.
- Taste the sauce and adjust with more lime juice or soy sauce if needed.
- Remove crispy tofu from the pan and briefly drain on kitchen paper.
- Serve tofu with the peanut lime sauce, e.g. on rice or in a bowl with vegetables.
